{"id":208,"date":"2022-01-01T23:40:01","date_gmt":"2022-01-01T23:40:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/utahbackyardtropicals.com\/?p=208"},"modified":"2022-02-08T22:08:47","modified_gmt":"2022-02-08T22:08:47","slug":"how-to-grow-a-cacao-tree","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/utahbackyardtropicals.com\/?p=208","title":{"rendered":"How to Grow a Cacao Tree From Seed"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Have you ever wondered how to grow a cacao tree (also known as a theobroma cacao)?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">First, you cut the cacao pod in half and take out the seeds and the seeds will have white flesh on them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Next, you put the seeds in a cup of water and soak them for a half an hour. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then you peel the white flesh off the seeds. If you leave the white flesh on the seed then they will start rotting in the ground. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After, you plant the seeds so they are kind of like peaking above ground. If you plant the seeds to deep then they could rot underneath the ground. If you plant them to high then they won\u2019t root and grow. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Germination takes about 2 to 3 weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you over water cacao tree then the roots will rot. If the soil is to dry the leaves will shrivel up. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By the way, no one sells cacao pods around here so I bought mine online at Montoso Gardens from Puerto Rico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Did you know that a cacao pod grows on the trunk of a tree and not on a branch?
