I’ve been growing plants since I was 11 years old beginning in August of 2019.

I first attempted to grow a mango tree from a pit and a pineapple from a pineapple top and although it was a failure I never gave up and tried again and eventually it worked! Since then, my collection of plants and trees kept growing and getting bigger and bigger and plants that I ordered were always arriving at my house.

At first, I began growing plants in an indoor greenhouse tent with grow lights but now we were able to build a huge greenhouse so I have more room to grow a bigger variety of plants and trees.

I feel lucky I was able to get a shoot off a big banana tree from the local college greenhouse. It has turned out to be my favorite plant. It was 1 1/2 feet tall and now it is over 6 feet tall! It has been growing since January 31, 2020.

I love being able to learn all about the varieties of tropical fruits and trees. Oftentimes, I go to Asian Markets to find exotic fruits and I always save the seeds so I can grow them. I think it is fun to try new fruits! I now have my own YouTube channel called James Tropicals.

My name is James Layton and I live in a small town in Manti, Utah.
